If your Brigantine chimney sweep just says ‘licensed & insured,’ ask for proof. Many ‘licensed’ operators in South Jersey are actually unlicensed or underinsured, leaving you liable for damage. Andre K Chimney Inc carries full commercial liability and NJ state certification. Here’s what to check before booking, and why we’re different.
Myth: ‘Licensed’ Means the Same Thing Everywhere in Brigantine
In Brigantine, ‘licensed’ chimney sweeps often skip the fine print. Some use expired permits or operate under a handyman’s license, not the NJ Department of Community Affairs’ chimney-specific certification. Others claim insurance but won’t show proof until after the job. At Andre K Chimney Inc, our license number is posted on-site, and we provide a certificate of insurance upfront. If a sweeper won’t show you theirs before the appointment, walk away, especially if they’re quoting $100 less than others. Our full services and licensing details are here.
Fact: Insurance Covers More Than You Think: If It’s Real
A ‘licensed’ chimney sweep with $1M in liability insurance sounds good, until you realize it might only cover their tools, not your roof or fireplace. Andre K Chimney Inc’s policy includes general liability for water damage, soot stains, and even accidental structural harm during cleaning. Ask: Does their policy extend to my home? If they hesitate, assume it’s a red flag. Brigantine’s older homes (especially near the boardwalk) have hidden creosote buildup, one wrong move can cost you thousands. We also offer free estimates with no pressure to book, so you can compare. See our pricing guide for Brigantine to spot overcharges.
